Who We Are
Our Mission
Established in 2019, the John Morroni Legacy Foundation (JMLF) seeks to memorialize the legacy of Florida State Legislator and Pinellas County Commissioner John Morroni (1955-2018). For 24 years prior to his untimely death, among his many unselfish endeavors our fearless two-time cancer survivor championed an annual charity event honoring law enforcement, firefighters and first responders – even including their K-9 partners - who displayed extraordinary courage and conduct in the line of their duties.
Superior officers in each of the various agencies were tasked with choosing those selected to be honored each year, then presenting them with a plaque or trophy during the festive annual event. Proceeds from the event benefitted community non-profit charities John chose to partner with each year.
Both corporations and private individuals join in the public event each year providing support through generous sponsorships and ticket purchases. Over time, the annual event has grown into a sell-out crowd of well over 500 guests each year, whose generosity has generated in excess of $1-million in charitable gifts destined to benefit our community over its 27-year lifetime.
“When I was a boy, and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping”
